Leader – Q1 2026 – Integrated Reefer News
By Søren Leth Johannsen

Dear reader,
Our industry is evolving rapidly. Expectations for uptime are higher than ever. Sustainability ambitions are accelerating. Digitalisation is reshaping how equipment is monitored and maintained. In this environment, progress depends on combining engineering excellence with smarter processes and close collaboration across the value chain while holding on to the over arching objective of keeping the cargo safe and fresh.
In this edition, we highlight three initiatives that reflect exactly that direction.
First, we look at the continued rollout of Star Cool 1.1 with the ultra-low GWP refrigerant R1234yf. With more than 20,000 units already in operation and many more prepared for the transition, early operational experience confirms that lower climate impact can go hand in hand with reliable performance, regulatory readiness, and stable long-term operating conditions for our customers.
Second, we look at our global engagement activities, from Roadshows to Intermodal events to Service Meetings, where dialogue with customers and partners continues to shape the development of Star Cool.
Third, we introduce how Intelligent Trip Inspection (ITI) is transforming traditional pre-trip inspections into a data-driven, self-diagnostic process — reducing turnaround time while maintaining reliability and safety.
Together, these initiatives demonstrate how we are continuously improving not only our equipment, but the entire ecosystem around it — supporting smarter, more sustainable, and ever more efficient reefer operations worldwide.

Warm regards,
Søren Leth Johannsen
