Star Cool Integrated

Engineered to outperform

The Star Cool Integrated reefer effectively combines the Star Cool reefer unit and the MCI Box reefer box into a single unit. The result is a reefer container that makes a visible difference to the bottom line with the lowest possible Total Cost of Ownership.

By integrating the Star Cool refrigeration unit directly into the container box, we have developed an intelligently designed container solution that weighs less, carries more and consumes less energy than today’s typical container solutions, without sacrificing strength or reliability.

This effectively reduces overall weight by 100 kg compared with a MCI Box with Star Cool Unit. Weight reductions of up to 300 kg are seen when comparing to other box/unit combinations. In addition to the increased strength of the front wall, the tighter connection between the refrigeration unit and container has removed thermal bridges, improving overall energy efficiency.

In a conventional reefer, there is a high level of heat transfer via the double frames of machinery and container, indicated here by an orange line. Star Cool Integrated is specially designed to eliminate this thermal bridging, resulting in reduced heat leakage and improved energy efficiency.

Star Cool CA

Star Cool CA is based on the concept of an effective, simple and low-energy controlled atmosphere system that is built into the Star Cool Integrated Reefer.

Star Cool CA+™ builds on MCI’s leading controlled atmosphere technology to open up a cost-effective way to new markets for low-respiring, high-value perishables such as blueberry and lychee.

Automatic Ventilation

AV+ (Automatic Ventilation) is the correct way to accurately control fresh-air ventilation in reefers. By using a CO2 sensor, the technology that powers AV+ monitors the natural respiration of produce inside the reefer.

To take energy efficiency to the next level, Star Cool has introduced StarConomy which is optimizing the cooling process and putting produce care first while remaining within the 0.25°C control band on supply air.
