Installation / Hardware
Q: Does the
Sekstant Gateway have a serial number that needs to be reported to indicate
which container it is installed on?
A: The
Sekstant Gateway has an individual serial number that can be read on its label.
The Sekstant Gateway will automatically report its serial number and the
container ID to the cloud.
Q: Standing
in front of the container, how can we determine that the installation was
successful?
A:
Currently the only way to verify this is by checking that the Sekstant Gateway
LED is solid green. If the LED is solid orange, then the installation is
successful, but the device cannot reach a network. The container should be
relocated to an outside location where there is at least good GPRS or 3G/4G connectivity.
Q: Once
installation is complete and the Sekstant Gateway LED is solid green, can the
unit be turned off?
A: After
installing the Sekstant Gateway, it is recommended that the unit is connected
to AC power for at least 48 hours to ensure the battery is sufficiently
charged.
Q: There is
bad internet signal at the place of installation. What should we do?
A: If the Sekstant
Gateway does not have an internet connection due to a bad signal, it will continue
trying to connect. So, if the container gets moved to a different
location where the Sekstant Gateway gets connection it will finalize the
installation process. However, it is strongly advised not to install Sekstant
Gateways in locations where there is not at least good GPRS or 3G/4G
connectivity.
Q: The Star
Cool controller needs to be replaced. Is any action required regarding the
Sekstant Gateway?
A: When a
controller is replaced, it is vital to enter the correct container ID in the
controller. If not done, the Sekstant Gateway will believe it has been mounted
on a different container and therefore report as such. No further actions are
required.
Q: Are
there any actions required when removing a Sekstant Gateway from a container?
A: When
removing a Sekstant Gateway from a container, the hole in the side of the
controller cabinet where the cable gland was installed needs to be plugged
again. As well as the holes in the communication plate.
Q: What is
the battery lifetime?
A: For a
fully charged new battery we guarantee it will last for 46 days at 20 degrees
Celsius. However, there are many factors that can shorten this such as how
often it wakes up on shocks, the ambient temperature, and age of the battery.
